My client, a mid-sized Civil Engineering company located in both New York & New Jersey is seeking a Senior Drafter to join their team on a Hybrid Basis. The company works with local townships and housing developers to provide site sub-division, grading, drainage and utility plans for residential lots across New York and New Jersey. The ideal candidate should have a very strong background in civil design, with a particular focus on site sub division, grading, drainage, utilities and water treatment design. Experience with AutoCad HydroCad and similar sofrware is essential. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule allowing some work from home days. You'll work closely with the owner and a team of remote drafters to work on large scale projects. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive 2D and 3D civil construction drawings, schematics, and detailed documentation using advanced CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or ArchiCAD. Create accurate 3D models and visualizations utilizing tools like SketchUp, 3ds Max, Grasshopper 3D, Rhinoceros 3D, Revit, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms to enhance project clarity and stakeholder communication. Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to translate conceptual designs into precise technical drawings aligned with project specifications and building codes. Conduct building code analysis and ensure all drafting outputs meet local regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices for civil infrastructure. Prepare construction detail documentation that clearly communicates design intent for contractors and construction teams. Assist in the review of schematics, engineering CAD designs, and construction plans to verify accuracy and consistency across project deliverables. Support the integration of graphic design elements and 2D animation techniques to produce compelling visual presentations of civil projects. Qualifications Proven experience as a Senior Drafter in civil or infrastructure projects with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in CAD software, specifically within site sub division, drainage and grading. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software including SketchUp, 3ds Max, Grasshopper 3D, Rhinoceros 3D, SolidWorks or equivalent tools for complex design visualization. Deep understanding of construction detail documentation processes and construction experience to inform accurate drafting practices. Knowledge of building code compliance standards relevant to civil infrastructure development. Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) tools for integrated project delivery. Strong skills in schematic development, engineering CAD design, graphic design, and 2D animation to enhance project presentations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
