In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing structural payloads for advanced aerospace systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Your expertise will contribute to the development of reliable, efficient, and innovative payload solutions that meet rigorous safety and performance requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and aerospace engineering, with extensive experience in CAD modeling, structural analysis, and systems integration. Duties Develop detailed structural designs of payload components using CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, and AutoCAD, ensuring precision and manufacturability. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate structural integrity and fluid interactions under various operational conditions. Collaborate with systems engineers to integrate payload designs within overall vehicle architecture, considering system requirements and constraints. Conduct engineering testing and root cause analysis to troubleshoot design issues, improve performance, and ensure compliance with AS9100 standards. Manage project schedules effectively to meet development milestones while coordinating cross-functional teams including manufacturing, avionics, and systems engineering. Develop requirements management documentation and perform requirements analysis to align design objectives with mission specifications. Support manufacturing processes by providing technical guidance on assembly procedures, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and quality standards such as ASME codes. Lead engineering development testing activities to validate design performance through data collection, signal processing, and analysis. Utilize programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and Simulink for data analysis, automation, and system modeling tasks. Ensure all designs adhere to relevant regulations including Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and military standards where applicable. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation supporting design decisions for internal review or customer approval. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees preferred. Proven experience in aerospace or defense industries with familiarity in DoD (Department of Defense) projects is highly desirable. Extensive proficiency in CAD software including CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, and Pro/ENGINEER. Strong background in structural analysis techniques such as FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Knowledge of aerospace design standards including AS9100 certification requirements. Experience with requirements management tools and systems engineering processes. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink for data analysis and automation tasks. Familiarity with manufacturing processes including assembly techniques and sensor integration. Understanding of aerospace regulations including FARs; experience with military specifications is advantageous. Excellent analytical skills combined with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across teams. Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively. Knowledge of mechanical testing procedures and root cause analysis methodologies. Prior experience working within a regulated environment following ASME codes & standards is preferred.
