This position offers the opportunity to be involved in many types of projects, supporting our team in a wide variety of engineering design, analysis, and coordination responsibilities. Candidates should have 1-4 years of experience working closely with engineers, contractors, and jurisdictional agencies on the design, permitting, and completion of land development projects. Candidates must be proactive, have excellent communication skills, and a professional attitude. Candidates should be prepared to work on multiple projects through all phases of documentation. Candidates must have solid math skills, as well as the ability to work quickly and efficiently, be organized and detail-oriented, maintain a positive attitude, learn and grow in the position, and lead others. Qualified applicants MUST have experience in land development engineering including grading, drainage, erosion control, water, wastewater, and street design. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned:
Coordinate with review agencies, subconsultants, and clients. Analyze and interpret as-built/record drawings and utility maps to create project drawings of existing infrastructure. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D design, prepare, and manage high quality construction plans, technical exhibits, and project documents. Design and drafting of engineering plans to include alignments, profiles, cross sections, utilities, and general detail drawings. Produce topographical profiles, cross sections, surface TINs, earthwork calculations, and grading plans with assistance from Project Manager or Engineer. Perform routine assignments that require judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations. Evaluate engineering alternatives and resolve technical issues. Prepare opinions of probable construction costs, quantity take-offs, and other quantitative analyses from conceptual drawings and final construction plans in excel. Work under guidance of engineers or other designers to complete assigned work within budgeted timeframes. Regular and reliable attendance. Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost effective, and compliant manner.
Qualifications Excellent communication skills:
interpersonal, listening, oral, and written Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications Able to work with minimal supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time, and be able to multi-task and prioritize General CAD proficiency and experience required with emphasis in land development engineering Ability to visualize 3-dimensionally when given a 2-dimensional sketch Thorough understanding of land development industry and the role of Civil Engineering in it Previous experience with utility, subdivision, and earthwork grading design and drafting Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BS) or equivalent combination of education and experience 1-4 years' experience in relevant land development positions EIT license, preferred but not required Strong experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D (2+ years' experience preferred) General Excel and Blue Beam experience preferred
