About the
Role:
A fast-growing energy technology company is seeking a Structural Designer to support the design and development of advanced flow battery systems. This role will be responsible for creating detailed structural designs, fabrication drawings, and 3D models for large-scale tank systems, support structures, and associated equipment. The ideal candidate has strong CAD design experience, an understanding of structural steel and welded assemblies, and a passion for bringing innovative industrial products from concept through manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D fabrication drawings for tanks, structural frames, platforms, supports, and related components using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software. Develop manufacturing and fabrication drawings that meet company drafting standards and industry best practices. Collaborate with mechanical, chemical, manufacturing, and project teams to translate engineering requirements into detailed production-ready designs. Prepare accurate bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and supporting documentation within PLM and document control systems. Generate clean, organized CAD models to support structural analysis, FEA, CFD, and engineering reviews. Coordinate with fabricators, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective. Support prototyping, testing, field installations, and product improvement initiatives. Participate in design reviews and implement revisions based on engineering, manufacturing, and field feedback. Maintain drawing revisions, engineering change orders (ECOs), and configuration control documentation.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting & Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Structural Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. 3+ years of experience in structural design, mechanical design, or industrial equipment design. Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar 3D CAD software. Experience producing fabrication drawings for welded steel structures, tanks, vessels, or industrial equipment. Working knowledge of structural steel detailing, welding practices, and fabrication processes. Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards. Ability to interpret engineering calculations, specifications, and design requirements. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Pay:
$85,323.69 - $110,000.00 per year
