An Industrial Automation Technician repairs and maintains the computer-controlled systems and robotic devices used within industrial and commercial facilities to reduce human intervention and maximize efficiency. Their duties require knowledge of electronics, mechanics and computers.
This position is a Crane Maintenance Automation Technician responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in relation to the Automated Cranes at the Big River Steel facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and "where applicable" ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed. 2) Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment, including PLCs, control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, and VFD drives/motors. 3) Install or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignment. 4) Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help develop a safety focused and productive Coated Products team and support electrical teammates to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability. 5) Assist in the development of a work safety program, PM system, personnel training program, and equipment spares list for the Electrical Group.
Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment. 2) Quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills. 3) Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge. 4) Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed. 5) Previous experience with
NFPA 70E
practices. 6) Familiar with common electrical tools and measuring instruments. 7) Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. 8) Strong working knowledge of 480-volt 3 phase electrical distribution systems and motor control. 9) Basic PLC Programing experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred). 10) High School diploma or equivalent, Technical Certificate in Steel or Industrial Technology or closely related field is a plus. 11) Minimum 5 years of work experience as an industrial electrician.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
The environment is typical for steel mill production areas, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment. Typical work hours are 9-hour shifts, Monday - Friday. May require working some weekends/holidays and overtime.
