GPS Technician

The program is contracted through the Los Angeles County Probation Department and offers excellent experience in the field of criminal justice.

Shift Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Holidays as needed.

Rate of Pay:

$20.00 per hour

Responsibilities and Duties :

Duties include but are not limited to those described below.

• Installs and adjusts electronic monitoring equipment; fits monitoring device to probationer; transports/retrieves electronic monitoring equipment in various offices within the county.
• Performs data entry of probationer's schedules and curfews.
• Removes electronic equipment from the individual; replaces and makes minor repairs to electronic equipment in use. Monitors individual via web app monitoring system; monitors and performs minor maintenance of equipment.
• Driving using personal automobile to transport equipment locally. Mileage will be reimbursed according to the federal standard mileage rate and driving time is compensated.
• Modify installs of electronic monitoring equipment that may include GPS Tracker or Transdermal Alcohol Device.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record including minimum auto insurance coverage required by California
• Ability to prioritize tasks and utilize effective time management skills
• Ability to find practical solutions to problems and clearly communicate details to the team
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Professional appearance and attitude
• Excellent people skills
• Conversational Spanish Preferred Not Required Preferred Experience (not required):
• Experience troubleshooting electrical components
• Other hardware installation experience
• Experience maintaining equipment inventory and warehouse

Candidate must be 21 years of age or older per Los Angeles County Probation.
