Photo-Sonics, Inc. is an international leader in state-of-the-art optical tracking systems in Chatsworth and has an immediate opening for a Systems Integration Technician. The Systems Integration Technician will work directly with Systems Integration Engineers to assist in the integration, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical, embedded, and networked systems. This hands-on position supports system setup, wiring, cabling, component installation, diagnostics, and functional testing both in the lab and at customer sites, including military test ranges. Responsibilities include but no limited to: Assist in the integration of embedded systems, networked electronics, and electro-mechanical components under engineer direction. Read, interpret, and work from system-level diagrams, wiring schematics, and mechanical drawings. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cabling, signal integrity, component connectivity, and general electronic system function. Set up and support test equipment, instrumentation systems, and field deployments. Perform continuity checks, crimping, soldering, cable routing, and connector assembly. Support field integration and testing activities, including travel to remote sites for extended durations when required. Maintain accurate documentation of build processes, configurations, and test results. Collaborate with engineers to verify proper system functionality and escalate issues when necessary. Follow safety and quality standards in handling electrical and mechanical components. Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Education:
Associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology or equivalent military technical training. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in technical integration, electronics testing, or systems troubleshooting in a laboratory or field environment.
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with embedded systems or networked devices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electronics, cabling, and network systems.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, system schematics, and assembly drawings.
- Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, cable testers, and hand tools.
- Understanding of Ethernet and serial communication protocols.
- Comfortable working with and around power supplies, motors, sensors, and optical equipment.
- Basic knowledge of IP networking, switches, and routers is a plus.
- Familiarity with embedded systems (such as microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally for system installations and support.
- Familiarity with fiber optics, cameras and lenses.
Physical Requirements include:
Crouching, sitting, standing, walking and repetitive hand motion and some lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in lab, production floor, and field environments, including outdoors at test ranges.
