Electronics Technician Job Description This role supports the production of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles by building, installing, testing, and repairing aircraft electrical systems and components. You will work hands-on with wiring harnesses, electrical wire bundles, and avionics assemblies, ensuring high quality and reliability in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform production manufacturing tasks, including building and installing electrical wire bundles, wire harnesses, and aircraft electrical systems. Strip wires, terminate connectors, and perform high-quality soldering on electrical and avionics components. Manufacture, test, inspect, and repair electrical systems and components for aircraft. Manufacture and repair aircraft wiring and wiring harnesses, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications. Perform operational checkout of aircraft electrical systems and conduct required inspections. Carry out in-progress and follow-up inspections during and upon completion of installations to verify workmanship and functionality. Troubleshoot aircraft systems discrepancies using appropriate test equipment and diagnostic techniques. Operate and maintain hand tools, specialty tools, and test equipment in a safe and serviceable condition. Assist in building prototypes for initial designs and low-volume builds that are not yet released into full production. Participate in field testing and flight testing as needed, including occasional travel to support test activities. Support and assist other mechanics and technicians as required, collaborating to complete complex assemblies and repairs. Follow established procedures and work instructions on semi-routine assignments while maintaining high quality standards. Interpret and translate engineered designs, drawings, and schematics into clear build instructions for assembly and test personnel. Apply knowledge of aircraft manufacturing safety procedures and adhere to all safety policies on the production floor. Essential Skills Minimum of 12 years of recent hands-on experience in electrical wire bundle manufacturing. Proficiency in manufacturing, assembling, and repairing wiring harnesses and electrical wire bundles. Experience working with electrical schematics and the ability to interpret and apply them in production and troubleshooting. Ability to translate engineered designs into practical build instructions for assembly and test teams. Hands-on experience using wire strippers, crimping tools, and other specialty hand tools for electrical assembly. Demonstrated familiarity with electronics, including hands-on work with analog and digital hardware. Proven knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and their operation. Strong skills in wiring and soldering, including fine-pitch and precision soldering for electrical and avionics components. Experience interpreting and understanding electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics. Proficiency using test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes for troubleshooting and verification. Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications. Experience working within aircraft manufacturing safety procedures and standards. Valid drivers license with a clean driving record. Experience in electronics, troubleshooting, soldering, and using soldering tools for electrical and mechanical assembly. At least 1 year of experience with hand tools, assembly, wire harness work, and crimping. Additional Skills & Qualifications Equivalent of 24 years of advanced studies beyond high school with an emphasis in electronics or soldering, or comparable job-related training in an R D environment (preferred). Certificate from a trade or technical school in electronics, soldering, or a related discipline (highly desirable). Prior experience in an aircraft manufacturing or aerospace R D environment (preferred). Proven experience with basic analog and digital circuit troubleshooting and repair (desired). Specific experience with wiring harnesses, plastics, composites, and printed circuit board manufacturing (highly desirable). Experience with medical device assembly is welcome and considered relevant. Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where small teams share a broad variety of duties. Comfort working with electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation. Familiarity with using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools in an electronics environment. Work Environment This role is based in a hands-on aerospace production and R D environment focused on unmanned aerial vehicles, electrical systems, and avionics assemblies. The position follows a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off while maintaining full-time hours. A typical first-shift schedule runs Monday through Friday, approximately 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with one Friday off in the first week and an 8-hour Friday in the second week, totaling 80 hours over two weeks. Candidates should be open to occasional Saturday work when needed to meet project deadlines. You will work with hand tools, wire strippers, crimping tools, soldering equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other specialty test and assembly tools. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with small teams collaborating across a broad range of tasks in aircraft manufacturing and testing. Safety procedures and standards are emphasized throughout the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petaluma, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
