• Electronics Technician - Rancho Bernardo
• Job Description
• + This role supports an Avionics Development Center by performing critical fabrication, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems in both production and development environments. You will work on-site in Rancho Bernardo, CA, focusing on circuit board diagnostics, component-level repairs, and environmental testing to ensure avionics hardware meets rigorous performance and quality standards.
• Responsibilities
• + Assemble, install, test, and maintain electronic systems, components, and equipment used in avionics applications.

+ Diagnose and repair circuit boards, wiring, and other electronic components, including performing component-level troubleshooting.

+ Perform operational tests under environmental stress screening, vibration, and thermal conditions to verify compliance with design specifications.

+ Identify and isolate malfunctions down to the component level using appropriate diagnostic methods and test equipment.

+ Conduct defined engineering tests according to established procedures and collect, record, and organize the assigned test data.

+ Document test results, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately and clearly to support traceability and continuous improvement.

+ Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis using oscilloscopes, multimeters, RF generators, spectrum analyzers, and similar test apparatus.

+ Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and production or assembly documentation to guide work.

+ Maintain strict compliance with Foreign Object Elimination (FOE) and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) controls, as well as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety and quality standards.

+ Use digital multimeters and other test equipment to perform electrical testing and verification of system performance.

+ Support both production and development activities in a fast-paced avionics department, collaborating with engineering and production teams as needed.

+ Follow established procedures and workmanship standards for circuit card assemblies, cable assemblies, and harnesses when applicable.

+ Adhere to all facility, safety, and quality protocols while working with advanced avionics and unmanned aircraft systems.

• Essential Skills
• + High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Approximately 4 years of related electronics experience, or electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or military technical school.

+ Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and blueprints.

+ Hands-on experience with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) control practices.

+ Avionics troubleshooting experience, including component-level diagnostics and repair.

+ Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding technical documentation.

+ Experience with component-level troubleshooting of electronic assemblies.

+ Proficiency using digital multimeters (DMM) for electrical measurements and testing.

+ Experience with electrical testing procedures and methods.

+ Ability to use oscilloscopes for signal analysis and troubleshooting.

+ Familiarity with a range of electronic test equipment used in diagnostics and verification.

+ Eligibility requirements that include U.S. citizenship due to contractual obligations.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• + Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications in English.

+ Experience with cable assembly and cable harness assembly for electronic systems.

+ Skills in electrical soldering and micro-soldering of electronic components and circuit cards.

+ Solder certification or equivalent demonstrated proficiency in soldering techniques.

+ Experience working with circuit card assemblies and related electronic hardware.

+ Current certification to IPC WHMA-A-620, NASA-J-STD, or other recognized certifications in electronics assembly and workmanship.

+ Familiarity with RF systems, digital and analog circuits, or embedded electronics.

+ Experience with component-level troubleshooting in complex electronic systems.

+ Experience using VOM, DVM, and similar test apparatus for measurement and diagnostics.

+ Comfort working in a fast-paced avionics environment supporting unmanned aircraft systems.

The facility is known for supporting unmanned aircraft systems development and support, including platforms such as Global Hawk, Triton, NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance, X-47B, and Bat. You will work primarily on 1st shift with a 4/10 schedule, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., with every Friday off. The environment involves regular use of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, RF generators, spectrum analyzers, and other diagnostic tools, and requires adherence to ESD, FOE, and FOD controls to maintain safety and product quality.

• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $32.

00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
