The Engineering Technician will be responsible for the end-to-end physical assembly, verification, initial bring-up, and troubleshooting of server hardware. This role bridges the gap between receiving raw components and delivering validated, functional server systems to the engineering design teams
Role and Responsibilities:
Inventory & Material Verification:
Receive project materials, conduct accurate inventory counts, and perform visual inspections to ensure component quality and reliability. Verify that all incoming parts precisely match the Bill of Materials (BOM) specifications.
Preparation & Organization:
Stage, sort, scan, and organize hardware components systematically to optimize the assembly phase.
Server Assembly:
Build and integrate servers and complex hardware components strictly following engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
System Bring-Up & Troubleshooting:
Execute initial system power-ups, isolate failing hardware components, and closely assist engineers in debugging complex system-level failures.
Testing & Firmware Management:
Conduct critical firmware updates (including BMC, BIOS, and CPLD), execute rigorous burn-in stress tests, document test findings, and report data back to the engineering design teams.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Hardware Literacy:
Basic knowledge of server architecture and hardware components, including motherboards, CPUs, memory, storage devices, power supplies, and cabling infrastructure.
Procedural Compliance:
Proven ability to comprehend and strictly follow intricate build instructions, engineering specifications, and SOPs.
Core Competencies:
Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a collaborative teamwork mindset.
Physical Demands:
Ability to safely lift, position, and move heavy server equipment as required in a lab or production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on Experience:
Prior experience with physical system assembly, hardware-level troubleshooting, and deploying firmware updates (specifically BMC and BIOS).
Technical Skills:
Basic networking familiarity and fundamental Linux operating system navigation/skills.
