Job Description

Our client, a Medical Technology company, is looking for a Engineering Technician 4 for their Sunnyvale, CA location.

Responsibilities:
  • The primary objective of a Sr. Engineering Technician is to provide troubleshooting, testing, repairs, equipment maintenance, and development support to the Manufacturing engineering team to meet productivity goals.
  • Additionally, this person will play a significant role in the areas of Failure Analysis, First Pass yield, and MRB review.
  • Candidates must be highly motivated with a strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as well as a commitment to high product quality.
Engineering support:

Assist or execute engineering level tests and collect data to support design of experiment activities or characterize an assembly.

Assist with parts order, build, and modification of development fixtures for evaluation.

Document all activities to keep records.

Manage time and resources in accordance with project.

Perform other engineering technician duties as needed.

NPI and Sustaining Production support:

Follow Production escalation process and provide engineering evaluation of any interruptions to production line.

Perform quick triage of the issue and recommend best course of action to keep production moving.

Perform simple reworks on the spot (cable crimping, solder components, tap threads, clean optics, adjust alignments etc.).

Document all activities during escalation support in formal records.

Order parts and assemble/bring up duplicate fixtures for production.

Requirements:

Understand wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, fab drawings, mechanical drawings.

Ability to solve technical issues with a basic understanding of Electrical circuits and mechanical drawings.

Working knowledge of computers, word processing and spreadsheet applications for documentation and data presentation.

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to variety of technologies that allow effective troubleshooting.

Examples:

Digital and Analog Electronics components, optical components, servo components, machined parts, sheet metal parts, cable assemblies.

Good communication skills to be able to partner effectively with production techs, supervisors, training department as well as Manufacturing/Design/Test Engineers.

Proven ability to work well in team environment

Familiarity with JIRA, Agile, and SAP or equivalent tools

Minimum 5 years' experience supporting a system engineering group in a product development organization

Ability to troubleshoot complex PCAs down to component level.

Electronic and Mechanical assembly skills (

Examples:

soldering, crimping, box build, fiber handling, optical component handling, cable routing, and use of RTV/epoxy).

AS degree, trade school, military technical training or equivalent. A minimum of five years of troubleshooting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
