Job Title:
Sr. Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (SMRT) Job Description The Sr. Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (SMRT) installs, maintains, and repairs automated material handling and robotic systems in a large, high-speed distribution environment. This role focuses on performing predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, and ensuring material handling equipment and conveyor systems operate safely and efficiently. The technician works with both mechanical and electrical components, uses a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and supports continuous improvement initiatives across highly automated and robotic equipment. Responsibilities Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as automated conveyors and related systems. Perform quality predictive and preventative maintenance routines on material handling equipment, robotics, and automation systems, following established procedures and documentation. Complete preventative maintenance tasks, including inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and parts replacement, and accurately document all work performed. Perform battery changes and conduct preventative maintenance on batteries to ensure reliable operation of equipment. Enter downtime data into daily logs and complete preventive maintenance (PM) sheets with clear and accurate information. Manage and update work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring all tasks, findings, and parts usage are recorded. Troubleshoot and identify problems with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems on material handling and conveyor equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. Apply knowledge of basic electrical components and electronic principles to safely perform repairs and adjustments. Troubleshoot and repair automated conveyor systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and control components. Track, organize, and store department inventory, including spare parts and critical components, to support maintenance activities. Follow and demonstrate safety standards and procedures in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and site safety policies. Troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations and equipment controls. Collaborate with other technicians and teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and enhance equipment reliability. Operate, monitor, and maintain robotic systems and related control equipment as needed. Use Microsoft Office applications to create and update reports, logs, and documentation related to maintenance activities. Essential Skills At least 4+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or material handling equipment. 4+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. 4+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. 4+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles. 4+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment. 1+ years of supervising, leading, or mentoring technicians 1+ year of experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics of material handling equipment (MHE) systems. 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications. Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Experience working with automated conveyor systems, including motors, drives, and controls. Ability to complete preventative maintenance tasks on conveyor systems, including work with hydraulics, motors, and related components. High school diploma or equivalent. Comfort working in a data-driven environment where performance metrics are tracked. Ability to walk significant distances (approximately 10,000 steps per day) and lift up to 49 lbs as part of daily duties. Willingness and ability to work any 10-hour shift, including days, nights, and weekends as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for managing and tracking work orders and maintenance activities. Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations and equipment controls. Continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on enhancing equipment reliability and maintenance processes. Willingness to learn and grow within a reliability, maintenance, and engineering-focused organization. Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and site safety standards. Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical fields. 4+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field. 4+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems. Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or distribution environment. Background in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment, including diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and work order creation. Experience working with high-speed automation, conveyor systems, and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics. Why Work Here? The position requires significant time on your feet, including walking approximately 10,000 steps per day and lifting up to 49 lbs as part of regular duties. You will work with standard maintenance tools and equipment, as well as computers and CMMS software to manage work orders and documentation. All candidates must be open to any 10-hour shift, and positions may be available across various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, depending on operational needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tracy, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.65 - $42.65/hr.
