This position is intended for a technician who is already comfortable working independently in oil and gas automation environments and can take the lead on advanced troubleshooting, system testing, technical review, and quality verification.

What You'll Be Doing:
Troubleshoot complex automation, instrumentation, PLC, RTU, SCADA, HMI, and communication system issues. Support Service, Safeguards System, and Management of Change (MOC) verification work. Perform functional testing, system verification, commissioning, and startup support. Review automation installations and system modifications for functionality, accuracy, and quality. Diagnose control-system issues and develop effective corrective actions. Verify field installations against P&IDs, Cause & Effect diagrams, facility drawings, and process flow diagrams. Troubleshoot industrial communications, including Modbus, Ethernet/IP, serial communications, and radio networks. Work directly with operations, electrical, instrumentation, engineering, and project personnel to resolve field issues. Provide technical support and guidance to other automation technicians. Maintain accurate documentation of testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and system changes. Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with customer and company standards.
What We're Looking For:
Strong oil and gas automation experience. Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic ability. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs. Strong understanding of Cause & Effect diagrams. Ability to interpret facility drawings and process flow diagrams. Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical systems. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and PLC logic. Experience with Modicon systems. Experience with ABB Totalflow. Experience with SCADAPack controllers and RTUs. Strong familiarity with SCADA systems and HMI interfaces. Experience with Modbus, Ethernet/IP, serial communications, and industrial radio networks. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in the field. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Experience:
Oil and gas production, midstream, or similar industrial automation environments. Safeguards, shutdown, or protective control systems. MOC verification and project support. Commissioning, startup, loop checks, functional testing, and system validation. Leading or mentoring other automation technicians. This Role Is a

You are comfortable tracing issues through field instrumentation, PLC logic, communications, SCADA, and HMI systems rather than simply replacing components. You can work independently, communicate clearly with operations and project teams, and take ownership of getting a system operating correctly.
