Job Description

Senior Electronic Security Technician Access Control | Intrusion | Video Surveillance | Networking | Gate Systems GSC Systems, Inc is a small, established electronic systems integrator serving commercial, government, military and residential customers throughout Northwest Florida. Our work includes sophisticated electronic security, access control, video surveillance, fire/life safety and network communication systems. We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on technician who knows how to do the work, takes pride in doing it correctly, and can work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, programming and servicing low-voltage electronic security systems , with particular strength in intrusion, access control, video surveillance, networking and gated access systems. Position Responsibilities
  • Install, program, configure, inspect, test, troubleshoot and service: o Intrusion detection systems o Access control systems o Video surveillance systems o Gated access systems o Network and data communication systems o Fire alarm and life-safety systems o Related electronic security equipment and infrastructure
  • Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications and system documentation.
  • Install, terminate, test, label and document low-voltage cabling and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot system hardware, software, communication and network issues.
  • Configure IP-based devices, controllers, cameras, panels and related equipment.
  • Perform system inspections and testing and accurately document results.
  • Diagnose problems, determine appropriate solutions and complete repairs with minimal direction.
  • Lead or independently perform assigned projects, service calls and inspections.
  • Coordinate professionally with customers, project personnel and other technicians.
  • Verify that systems are operating properly before leaving the job.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and professional work area.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to less-experienced technicians when needed.
  • Take ownership of assigned work from start to completion. What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is an experienced technician who can think through a problem, troubleshoot logically and get the job done without needing constant direction. Required or Strongly Preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience installing, servicing and troubleshooting low-voltage electronic security systems.
  • Strong experience with several of the following: o Intrusion detection o Access control o Video surveillance o Networking/data communications o Gated access systems o Fire alarm/life-safety systems
  • Experience performing both installation and service/repair work .
  • Ability to independently diagnose problems and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Experience installing, terminating and testing Cat5e/Cat6 and other low-voltage cabling.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and network-connected security devices.
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn manufacturer-specific software and systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional, customer-service-oriented attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass required background and drug screening.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, squat and crawl, and work in crawl spaces, above ceilings and other physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate scissor lifts and other jobsite equipment. Experience with the following manufacturers, systems and technologies is highly desirable:
  • Bosch
  • Honeywell
  • Identiv/Hirsch
  • Velocity
  • Vindicator
  • Axis
  • Fire-Lite
  • IP video and networked security systems
  • CAT6 and fiber optic systems
  • UL 2050 environments
  • FIPS/FICAM or other government security requirements Relevant industry certifications are a plus, including Certified Alarm Technician (CAT 1), FASA/BASA, manufacturer certifications and networking certifications.
You do not need to have experience with every manufacturer or certification listed above. We are interested in the depth and breadth of your actual field experience, your ability to troubleshoot and your ability to learn new systems. This position is a good fit for someone who:
