Job Description

I&C Design Engineer - Flue Gas Conditioning (FGC) Job Overview We are looking for an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer with experience in OEM package engineering / EPC projects . The engineer will be responsible for designing the instrumentation and control systems for Flue Gas Conditioning (FGC) skids and packages used in power plants and industrial facilities. You will work with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Procurement, Vendors, EPC contractors, and Clients to deliver the complete I&C package from design through FAT and site support . Key ResponsibilitiesI&C Design Prepare and update P&IDs, Instrument Lists, I/O Lists, Loop Diagrams, and Instrument Datasheets . Select instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, and gas analyzers. Select and size control valves, actuators, and other control equipment . Prepare instrument hook-ups, cable schedules, junction box details, and wiring drawings. Design instrumentation for FGC skids, reagent systems, vaporization systems, and injection systems. Control & Automation Develop control philosophy, control narratives, alarms, trips, and interlocks. Define PLC/DCS inputs and outputs. Coordinate PLC/DCS programming and HMI requirements. Define communication between the FGC package and the plant
DCS/SCADA.
Knowledge of Modbus, Profinet, Profibus, or Ethernet/IP is preferred. EPC & Client Coordination Review project specifications and customer requirements. Coordinate with EPC contractors and clients on I&C requirements. Respond to technical comments and update drawings/documents. Coordinate with vendors and review technical offers and drawings. Ensure the OEM package interfaces correctly with the main plant control system. Panel & Package Engineering Prepare or review PLC/LCP panel drawings, wiring diagrams, termination drawings, and junction box details . Ensure proper instrument installation, cabling, grounding, and power requirements. Consider skid space, instrument accessibility, routing, and maintenance requirements. FAT & Commissioning Prepare and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) . Check I/O, instruments, alarms, interlocks, PLC logic, HMI, and communication signals. Support commissioning and troubleshooting at site when required. Help close technical punch points and complete final project handover. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field . 4-8 years of experience in I&C engineering. Experience with an OEM package manufacturer or EPC company is preferred. Experience in Power, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, or Environmental/FGC projects is an advantage. Technical Skills Good knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems. Experience with PLC/DCS systems such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, ABB, etc. Knowledge of control valves and instrument selection/sizing. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols. Experience with AutoCAD . Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) / INtools is preferred. Basic knowledge of ISA, IEC, NFPA, NEC, API, and ASME standards . Understanding of hazardous-area requirements such as ATEX/IECEx is an advantage. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should be able to take an FGC package from process requirements → I&C design → vendor coordination → FAT → site handover . Good communication skills, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work with EPC clients, vendors, and multiple engineering teams are important.

$89,981.09 - $108,364.32 per year
