Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an Electronic Technician A / PLC Technician, at our Lakeland, FL manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for ensuring electronic and computer components of plant production equipment are installed, repaired, adequately maintained, and operating at an optimum production level necessary to manufacture product(s) for internal and external customers on a timely basis.
Essential Functions:
Advise Maintenance Manager of electrical/mechanical problems and provide recommendations for solutions. Build, maintain and repair all production electronic systems. Retrofit machine control systems, read, modify, and create machinery electrical schematics. Install, repair and retrofit motor controllers to include all types of motor AC and DC drives and systems. Troubleshoot problems quickly and determine viable solutions daily. Identify potential problems before they occur through a preventative maintenance program. Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and design of electrical circuits. Diagnose/maintain/install PLC (Programmable logic controllers) systems and associated 24VDC, 120VAC control circuits. Ability to prioritize and easily adapt to changes throughout the day/week. Skills/ Requirements PLC education/experience servicing programmable logic systems (Allen-Bradley 500 and 5000 series and Siemens S7-400 and 1200) experience preferred. High computer literacy with proven ability to maintain machine control systems software and upgrades. Various types of sensors and Relay controls Must have knowledge of the national Electrical Code and ability to read electrical schematics (US and Euro) Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, motor controls, and equipment to include PLC troubleshooting and various types of drives as well as ability to write and/or re-write the program. Strong PC skills and PC networking (Ethernet) Ability to work flexible hours, and overtime, which may include partial weekends. Must be certified forklift, genie boom, and scissor lift operator or willing to obtain certification. Education High school diploma or General Education Degree [GED] 4+ years of experience in the electronic field with 2+ years working in an Industrial environment with extensive knowledge of computer-interfacing (advanced electronic training preferred). Two to three years of specialty or technical PLC schooling.Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to read a tape measure. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required. Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include overtime, holidays, weekend, and call-in with little notice. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to pass an audiometric and pulmonary testing. Ability to able to work at elevated heights.
