Permanent Position Summary We are seeking a Lab Engineer to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and performance verification of analytical laboratory instrumentation. This role is responsible for ensuring laboratory equipment remains operational, reliable, and compliant while minimizing downtime across multiple laboratory locations. The position requires extensive travel and hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including chromatography and mass spectrometry systems. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and LC-MS systems. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer and laboratory requirements. Support instrument installation, qualification, calibration, relocation, and decommissioning projects. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, fluidic, electronic, software, and communication-related issues. Conduct performance verification and post-repair testing to ensure instruments meet operational specifications. Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and technical documentation. Collaborate with laboratory personnel, vendors, and service providers to resolve equipment issues. Participate in root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability. Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and maintenance supplies. Assist in developing SOPs, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation. Provide technical support and basic instrument training to laboratory staff. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific or technical discipline. 1-5 years of experience in laboratory instrumentation, equipment maintenance, field service, or a related technical environment. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining analytical instrumentation preferred. Strong mechanical, electrical, and technical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%, including overnight and out-of-state travel. Preferred Experience Experience with HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and/or LC-MS systems. Experience supporting instrumentation from major analytical equipment manufacturers. Knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, calibration, and repair. Experience in regulated laboratory environments such as environmental, pharmaceutical, food testing, chemical, clinical, or related industries. $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
