Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic educational team as a Construction Trades Teacher, where you will inspire and equip students with essential skills in various construction and technical trades. This role offers an exciting opportunity to share your expertise in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, welding, automotive repair, and more. You will design engaging curricula, deliver hands-on instruction, and foster a diverse learning environment that prepares students for successful careers in the construction and manufacturing industries. Your passion for technical education and commitment to student success will drive meaningful learning experiences and industry-ready skill development. Duties Deliver engaging classroom instruction utilizing educational technologies including computers and online platforms like Blackboard to enhance learning outcomes. Conduct hands-on training sessions in workshops or labs focused on practical skills such as welding, automotive service, HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing repairs, and maintenance procedures. Assess student progress through practical demonstrations, written assessments, and project evaluations aligned with industry standards and OSHA safety regulations. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of prior experience in construction or manufacturing fields. Collaborate with industry partners to ensure curriculum relevance and incorporate current practices related to maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), automation using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other emerging technologies. Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing safety protocols related to OSHA standards and construction site practices. Participate in curriculum development initiatives to continuously improve instructional materials and incorporate new technical skills such as course design for adult education programs. Experience Proven experience working within the construction trades or manufacturing sectors, including hands-on expertise in plumbing, electrical work, HVAC/R systems, welding, automotive repair or aircraft maintenance. Strong knowledge of technical skills instruction including hydraulics, mechanical systems, automotive diagnostics, HVAC systems (including HVAC/R), electrical wiring, plumbing techniques, welding procedures, and safety standards. Familiarity with educational technologies such as computers for instructional purposes and online learning platforms like Blackboard.
