Assists with diagrams and specifications for design, construction of product prototypes, testing and calibration, technical problem solving, equipment repair and maintenance while ensuring regulatory safety standards are met.
Marine Electronics Technician The Role We are looking for a hands-on Marine Electronics Technician to join the technical team supporting the SailGP training facility in Pensacola. This role will support the electronic, electrical, instrumentation and data systems associated with the F50 and the wider training operation. The ideal candidate will have experience with marine electronics, electrical systems, instrumentation, controls or a related technical field. Previous marine electronics experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are open to candidates from aviation, automotive, industrial, military, controls, instrumentation or other technical backgrounds who have strong fault-finding skills and are interested in developing their knowledge of high-performance marine systems. This is a practical role in a fast-moving environment where reliability, attention to detail and the ability to solve problems are extremely important. Key Responsibilities Support the installation, inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic and electrical systems on the F50 and associated equipment. Diagnose electrical, electronic, sensor, communication and instrumentation faults. Install and maintain wiring, connectors, sensors, antennas and associated components. Carry out electrical testing using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment. Assist with sensor installation, calibration and system checks. Inspect wiring, connectors and components for damage, corrosion, water ingress or deterioration. Repair and replace wiring, connectors and electronic components as required. Support preventative maintenance and scheduled system checks. Assist with pre-sailing and post-sailing technical checks. Help identify faults quickly during training operations and support efficient return-to-service. Maintain clear records of maintenance, repairs, faults and configuration changes. Maintain appropriate electronic and electrical spares, tools and consumables. Work closely with the wider technical, shore and sailing teams. Support other technical and maintenance activities around the facility when required. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is fundamentally good at understanding how systems work and finding out why they don't work when something goes wrong. Marine electronics experience would be valuable, particularly experience with: Marine electrical and electronic systems Sensors and instrumentation Wiring and harnesses Electrical connectors and terminations CAN bus or other communication networks GPS and navigation equipment Data acquisition systems Battery and low-voltage DC systems Electrical schematics Waterproof electrical installations Diagnostic and test equipment However, we do not expect applicants to already understand every system used on an F50. Candidates with strong transferable experience from aviation, automotive, motorsport, industrial maintenance, controls, instrumentation, military or other technical environments are encouraged to apply.
