ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
. ? Develop comprehensive curriculum covering electrical principles, instrumentation techniques, control systems, troubleshooting methods, safety procedures, and relevant industry standards. ? Deliver engaging and informative lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training to students, ensuring they understand concepts and can apply practical skills effectively. ? Instruct students on proper safety protocols and procedures related to electrical and instrumentation work, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of tools and equipment, and compliance with regulatory standards. ? Maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment, tools, and systems used for training purposes, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet safety standards. Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed. ? Assess student performance through practical demonstrations, written exams, and other evaluation methods. Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills and achieve learning objectives. ? Prepare students for certification exams by covering relevant exam topics, administering practice tests, and offering guidance on exam preparation strategies. ? Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success. Manage classroom dynamics, address student concerns, and enforce disciplinary policies when necessary. ? Creates a learning environment for students inclusive of diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. ? Collaborates with faculty and staff from other departments and divisions to promote communication, coordinate programs, and support student success. ? Prepares clear learning outcomes for each course, and informs students of learning outcomes in a course syllabus. ? Maintains classroom, laboratory and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate. ? Participates in college service and activities outside direct instruction, such as registration, curriculum development, strategic planning, and educational assessment. ? Provides academic advising to students and others as needed for completion and/or career readiness. ? Supports student recruitment, placement, and retention. ? Keeps professionally current by participating in professional development and other activities; maintains current credentials as required by program or accreditation. ? Maintains active liaison with high schools, business and industry, or external agencies, and organizes the Occupational Advisory Committee. ? Completes instructional duties, reports, and paper work assigned by administration in a timely manner. ? Attends faculty/staff meetings and in-service programs. ? Maintains and emphasizes safe working conditions and practices. ? Complies with all Board policies and administrative regulations. ? Applies appropriate technology in teaching and the learning process. ? Maintains accurate, complete and correct records and reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation. ? Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and meet all school and District policy requirements. ? Support school improvement initiatives by actively participating in school activities, services and programs. ? Recognize overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action based on school procedures and law. ? Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress. Assist with program planning, scheduling, and coordination of educational activities as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
? Thorough understanding of safety protocols and best practices relevant to electrical and instrumentation work. Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards established by organizations such as OSHA. ? Proficient in electrical systems, instrumentation technologies, control systems, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with industry-standard software and equipment used in electrical and instrumentation work. ? Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; analytical, mathematical, organizational, and prioritization skills; flexibility and adaptability in dealing with rapidly changing prioritization skills; flexibility and adaptability in dealing with rapidly changing priorities and demands; interpersonal skills. ? Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and enforce pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignments. ? Ability to work effectively under stress of deadlines, volume of workload, and multitasking requirements. ? Ability to organize self, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of energy in a fast-paced environment to provide efficient services. ? Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
