Job Description

Industrial Reliability Maintenance Technician Step onto a production floor in Elgin or Bartlett and imagine this: your second- or third-shift team counts on you to keep sophisticated lines humming. You start your shift reviewing the board for open work orders—one is a packaging conveyor running hot, another a VFD fault on a mixer. With a toolkit that spans wrenches to multimeters, you move from root-cause diagnosis to efficient repair, getting operations back on track and preventing the next interruption before it happens. TekPro partners with established manufacturing companies in the Elgin and Bartlett areas to hire experienced maintenance professionals for full-time, direct-hire roles. These positions offer stable employment, consistent schedules, and hands-on exposure to a broad range of automated production and packaging systems. How You'll Keep Production Moving Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair manufacturing and packaging equipment to reduce downtime. Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on automated machinery, conveyors, motors, and facility systems. Resolve mechanical and electrical failures quickly and safely to maintain throughput. Work with motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, and conveyor systems. Diagnose industrial electrical issues involving 3-phase power, motor controls, VFDs, relays, switches, and sensors. Assist in troubleshooting PLC-controlled machines and automated equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals. Perform changeovers, adjustments, repairs, and new equipment installations. Complete scheduled PMs and proactively identify components at risk of failure. Partner with production and engineering to improve equipment reliability and performance. Follow all plant safety practices, including lockout/tagout and maintenance procedures. What You Bring Background as an Industrial Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, Electro-Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Electrician, or similar role. Hands-on troubleshooting experience with production, manufacturing, or packaging equipment. Strong mechanical problem-solving skills; industrial electrical troubleshooting is highly preferred. Familiarity with motors, VFDs, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, and motor control systems. PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus; programming experience is not required. Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings is preferred. Experience in food manufacturing, packaging, corrugated/printing, converting, automated manufacturing, or other high-volume environments is a plus. Proven ability to independently diagnose issues and complete repairs. Availability to work second or third shift. Why This Role Full-time, direct-hire positions with stable employers. Consistent schedules and a reliable workload. Exposure to a wide mix of automated production and packaging technologies. If you're ready to be the go-to problem solver who keeps lines running, TekPro's partners want to meet you.
