1st Shift | Only considering local candidates Overview A renowned manufacturer with multiple facilities across North America is seeking a controls-focused engineer to join their maintenance team in a highly automated Chicago-area facility. The role involves working with robotic systems, automated conveyors, and intricate packaging equipment to ensure continuous operation. This position is hands-on and concentrates on PLC programming, electrical diagnostics, and controls upkeep. While candidates with limited practical experience but a solid technical background will be considered, those with proven expertise in PLC and electrical work within a manufacturing setting will be prioritized. What the Job Involves Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems on production machinery, automated conveyors, packaging lines, and robotic units Modify and troubleshoot PLC programs to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions Interpret and mark up wiring diagrams and control system blueprints Adjust settings on machines, VFDs, and servos using HMI interfaces Install and inspect electrical conduit, raceway, and busbar systems according to electrical codes Run wire, make connections, and repair electrical and pneumatic components using standard tools and techniques Fine-tune and troubleshoot equipment electrically to maintain optimal performance Check operational parts for potential issues before they lead to downtime Assemble, align, and install machinery as required Collaborate professionally with internal teams and external contractors What They Need Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or relevant technical certifications in controls, electrical systems, or related fields Desirable 1+ years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and electrical troubleshooting Consideration for candidates with strong technical knowledge and limited practical exposure Ability to understand and interpret control schematics and electrical diagrams Familiarity with VFDs, servos, HMI interfaces, and industrial communication networks Mechanical proficiency in repairing pneumatic and electrical components Only considering candidates residing locally What's on the Table Hourly pay between $40.00-$45.00 based on experience Affordable medical, dental, and vision benefits Stable 1st shift schedule with potential for overtime Family-friendly environment promoting work-life balance Established company offering long-term growth opportunities
