Electrical Technician Reports To Plant Manager Location Decatur, IL Job Summary The Electrical Technician details electrical designs and assembles Release Packages under the direction of an Electrical Engineer, facilitating the completion of panel designs and their implementation — either personally or by sharing the assignment with Engineering Assistants. This role also performs mechanical assembly duties at times, supporting production needs alongside electrical panel-building work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Detail equipment schematics as directed by Electrical Engineer(s). Build control panels in accordance with approved electrical designs. Prepare and interpret electrical schematics. Make as-built changes after a job is completed. Apply a strong understanding of electrical circuits and design principles. Apply working knowledge of programming software as needed. Troubleshoot electrical systems and components. Travel occasionally to customer sites for field service or installation support. Perform mechanical assembly duties as assigned, supporting production schedules alongside electrical panel work. Read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly instructions when performing mechanical assembly tasks.

Education / Experience

2-4 years of electrical circuits and design experience. One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Control panel building experience required. Experience in mechanical assembly. Highly developed electrical and mechanical skills. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a plant/shop floor environment and is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
