Job Description

Job Summary The Coatings Technician is responsible for configuring, optimizing, and maintaining process controls on VTI, annealing, and hard coat equipment to meet stringent customer specifications. This role includes diagnosing and resolving manufacturing process issues, conducting in-depth troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and peak performance. The Coatings Technician is also tasked with implementing improvement plans to mitigate failures and enhance operational efficiency. Through effective coordination of manufacturing activities, this role supports the delivery of high-quality production outcomes by leveraging advanced problem-solving techniques and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Optimize all machine processes by reducing scrap, cycle times, and changeover times. Assist with launches of new programs by developing and implementing processes that ensure quality product output and attending launch meetings as needed. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions on coating systems, including diagnosing and repairing electrical motors, pneumatic air cylinders, and safety circuits such as light curtains, safety pressure mats, and pull cords. Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Fanuc robot programs and vision systems. Troubleshoot and perform machine adjustments using Allen-Bradley PLCs. Oversee system performance by setting up and verifying process controls, conducting mechanical pump oil changes, vacuum leak detection, and maintaining prox sensors. Utilize technical skills to troubleshoot minor electrical issues. Prepare detailed technical reports on system, component, and part performance and malfunctions. Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency, working with quality inspectors to ensure part performance. Recommend and implement equipment improvements, including evaluating new techniques and technologies. Communicate effectively by preparing shift reports and providing detailed updates to supervisors. Promote safety through adherence to all policies and procedures. Experience Minimum of 3 years experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairs of equipment within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated aptitude for managing and balancing multiple concurrent projects. Safety and environmental practical experience. Robust background in manufacturing, with a preference for automotive manufacturing experience. Robotics and PLC experience is preferred. Ability to work autonomously while effectively managing priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong motivation, teamwork orientation, and meticulous attention to detail. Advanced problem-solving abilities coupled with sound decision-making skills.
Pay:
$29.75 - $35.75 per hour
