Job Description
Gate Options is looking for an experienced Gate Technician to join our team. We're looking for someone who can run service calls, assist with installations independently, troubleshoot automated gate systems, and take pride in doing the job right the first time. Experience in the overhead door, commercial door, garage door, access control, or related service industries is highly relevant and encouraged to apply. Our work covers both commercial and residential throughout the Northern Illinois area. You'll work on a variety of gate systems, from mechanical repairs and welding, to gate operators, control boards, vehicle loops, and sensing devices. If you're looking for steady work and the freedom to do your job without being micromanaged, we'd like to talk. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair commercial and residential automated gate systems. Install and service swing, slide, barrier gate systems, and related access controls. Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical failures. Replace control boards, loops, photo eyes, receivers, and external sensing devices. Perform welding and light fabrication as needed. Repair hinges, rollers, tracks, wheels, locks, and gate hardware. Complete service documentation with photos and notes. Represent Gate Options professionally with customers. Required Qualifications 2 years of automated gate experience is preferred, but not required. Ability to independently diagnose and repair commercial and residential automated gate systems. Experience installing and programming commercial and residential gate operators. Mechanical experience with rollers, tracks, wheels, chains, sprockets, bearings, hinges, springs, and related hardware. Welding and fabrication experience. Comfortable using a multimeter and reading wiring diagrams. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift 75 pounds and work outdoors.
