PLC Technician Job Description As a PLC Technician, you will program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI control systems (Siemens
S7-1200/1500, TIA
Portal) to support manufacturing operations. You will perform preventive and predictive maintenance on control systems, electrical networks, and automated equipment, ensuring system integrity and supporting continuous operations. Responsibilities Download, backup, and modify PLC programs to ensure system integrity and support continuous operations. Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on blow molders, material transfers, and resin handling systems. Install, test, and commission new manufacturing equipment and automation technology upgrades. Replace and configure PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs, including electrical components such as starters, fuses, contacts, and relays. Monitor equipment performance and participate in root cause analysis and failure prevention activities. Support capital projects such as equipment installations, line upgrades, and automation improvements. Ensure all control system activities comply with safety regulations, GMP standards, and company policies. Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians and maintenance personnel. Essential Skills Proficiency in electrical, PLC programming, and troubleshooting. Experience with Siemens PLCs and automation, particularly with Siemens
S7-1200/1500, TIA
Portal. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, control drawings, tag references, and OEM technical manuals. Competency with multimeters, diagnostic tools, and safe work practices in control panels with up to 480VAC. Experience with VFDs, drives, level probes, flow meters, and other electronic instrumentation. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is fully automated with new equipment, although it may be dirty at times. The position is on a 1st shift from 7 am to 5 pm, which can be from Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $87360.00 - $93600.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
