In this vital role, you will operate specialized fiber blowing equipment to efficiently install high-quality fiber optic cables, ensuring optimal network performance. Duties Place fiber optic cable by several different means including manual pulling. Operate fiber blowing machines and related industrial equipment to install fiber optic cables accurately and efficiently. Conduct routine inspections of machinery, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), to ensure optimal operation and troubleshoot issues promptly. Handle materials safely using hand tools, forklifts, and materials handling equipment, maintaining proper warehouse procedures. Perform quality inspections on installed fibers using precision measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify adherence to specifications. Assist with fabrication and assembly tasks related to fiber optic components, ensuring precise measurements and alignment. Troubleshoot industrial equipment and fiber installation processes, applying engineering troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues swiftly. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by maintaining organized work areas, reducing waste, and improving workflow efficiency. Skills Familiarity with quality control measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of industrial equipment troubleshooting, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation systems. Ability to operate hand tools effectively for fabrication, assembly, and maintenance tasks. Experience in manufacturing environments with a focus on machining, materials handling, and warehouse operations. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality assessments. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize productivity and reduce waste. Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts safely in a warehouse setting is preferred. The Fiber Blow Technician is responsible for installing fiber optic cable through conduits using multiple methods including manual pulling and specialized blowing equipment. This role involves preparing job sites, handling fiber reels, operating fiber blowing machines, and ensuring all installations meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in fiber optic construction and demonstrate proficiency in fiber blowing operations, conduit systems, and field troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities Operate fiber optic cable blowing equipment safely and efficiently. Install fiber optic cable through underground and aerial conduit systems. Prepare job sites, including conduit setup, pulling tape assistance, and duct verification. Conduct conduit proving, rodding, cleaning, and route verification prior to installation. Load and unload fiber reels and monitor cable placement during installation. Troubleshoot fiber optic cable, conduit systems, and equipment issues. Read and interpret job prints, utility maps, construction drawings, and project specifications. Maintain accurate records of footage installed, materials used, and work completed. Perform quality control inspections to ensure compliance with company and customer standards. Communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, crew members, and project managers. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and traffic control procedures. Assist with site cleanup, restoration, emergency restoration efforts, and special projects as needed. Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working condition. Physical & Work Requirements
