We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to join our growing team and help us build and maintain our cutting-edge telecommunications infrastructure.
Job Summary:
As a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables in both underground and aerial environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optic tools and equipment and a solid understanding of industry standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables Conduct fiber optic testing using OTDR, power meter, and light source Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber lines Interpret network design schematics, splice documentation, and technical drawings Maintain accurate records of splicing and testing data Work independently or as part of a team in varying environments (indoor, outdoor, confined spaces) Ensure all work complies with industry standards and company quality/safety policies
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus Minimum [1-3] years of experience in fiber optic splicing Proficiency with fiber optic tools (fusion splicer, cleavers, OTDR, etc.) Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber characteristics Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and splice schematics Valid driver's license with clean driving record Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 10/30
certification Experience with GIS/mapping tools Familiarity with permitting and right-of-way documentation
