Position Overview:
We are seeking a Tube Laser Technician to operate and maintain our system. The ideal candidate is a detail oriented, safety focused technician who understands precision metal cutting, material handling, and quality standards. This role is critical to supporting efficient production of tube, pipe, and structural components for our fabrication projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor the Hans and Luminary Tube Laser to cut tubes, pipes, and structural materials according to engineering drawings and job specifications. Interpret blueprints, CAD files, and cut lists to ensure accurate setup and output. Load and unload raw materials using appropriate handling equipment while maintaining material traceability. Adjust laser parameters, focus, and cutting conditions based on material type, thickness, and geometry. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on laser equipment, optics, and support systems. Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, quality, and finish using calipers, gauges, and measurement tools. Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to optimize cutting performance and minimize scrap. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or machining preferred. 2+ years of experience operating laser cutting equipment (tube or sheet) preferred; Hans and/or Luminary Laser system experience a plus. Knowledge of CNC machinery, laser optics, and G-code programming concepts. Strong understanding of metal fabrication materials (carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, etc.). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. Comfortable using calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring tools. Proficient in computer use; experience with Odoo ERP or similar systems is a plus. Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in a fabrication environment with noise, heat, and moving machinery.
