Job Title:
Engineering Technician Job Description The Engineering Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of advanced nitrogen dioxide sterilization systems used in pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing. This position supports Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Service by ensuring equipment is built and maintained to the highest standards of quality and reliability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting industrial automation equipment. Responsibilities Assemble mechanical and electrical components for sterilization systems. Install pneumatic, electrical, and fluid handling components. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions. Perform equipment checkout and functional testing. Support prototype builds and engineering development projects. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system issues. Troubleshoot motors, sensors, valves, power supplies, relays, and instrumentation. Repair production equipment and customer systems. Replace defective components and verify proper operation. Perform root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on sterilization equipment. Maintain calibration of instruments and sensors. Document maintenance activities. Assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures. Install and commission sterilization systems at customer facilities. Perform site acceptance testing. Train customer personnel on equipment operation and routine maintenance. Respond to customer service requests. Travel to customer sites as required (approximately 20-30%). Assist engineers with prototype testing and design verification. Collect test data and prepare reports. Recommend product improvements based on field experience. Support validation and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ). Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Adhere to company safety procedures. Support quality system requirements. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Essential Skills Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical training. 5+ years of hands-on industrial equipment experience. Strong mechanical assembly skills. Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Experience troubleshooting 24 VDC and 120/240 VAC electrical systems. Experience using electrical test equipment (multimeter, clamp meter, oscilloscope preferred). Excellent mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Valid driver's license. Ability to travel up to 30%. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience servicing pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing equipment. Experience with sterilizers, autoclaves, isolators, packaging equipment, or industrial process equipment. PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred). Familiarity with HMI systems. Pneumatic controls experience. Vacuum system experience. Knowledge of sensors, instrumentation, pressure transducers, mass flow controllers, and temperature control systems. Experience with GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. Familiarity withIQ/OQ/PQ
documentation. Work Environment The role requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday. The candidate should be comfortable working around industrial equipment and capable of occasional travel by automobile and air. The ability to work in customer manufacturing environments while wearing appropriate PPE is essential. The position offers opportunities for growth and promotion. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hanover, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.24 - $43.27/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
