Clarificion from the agency This position is open to current Maryland Army Nional Guard members only. Duties Help The primary purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, and inspections on optical and non-optical precision instruments and reled devices. This position performs the following duties: 1. Repairs, modifies, overhauls, inspects, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and cleans the optics and supporting mechanical and electrical elements of complex panoramic telescopes. 2. Visually inspects optical instrument equipment and operes mechanisms to determine serviceability, damaged or worn parts, and malfunctions. 3. Abides by safety precautions when working with compressors, hoses, and tank testing equipment. Analyzes and tests continuity of electrical circuits by utilizing test equipment such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, and multi-voltage test set. 4. Serves as a commodity inspector during technical inspections, Command Maintenance Evaluion Team (COMET) or Maintenance Assistance and (MAIT) Instruction Team. 5. Provides technical advice and assistance to units and field maintenance shops throughout the ste. 6.Required to inspect, diagnose, and repair high voltage power sources used with night vision devices, aware of the hazards involved in checking high voltage circuits.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

: Experience or training th has provided the candide with the ability to apply knowledge of optical theory and construction principles in order to test, repair, align, and collime a variety of complex optical equipment. Experience which demonstres the ability to understand and apply instructions, and specificions; and interpret blueprints and diagrams of optical phs and mechanical linkages. Experience using hand and power tools common to an optical shop.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: Experience or training repairing, rebuilding, overhauling systems and components of optical instrument equipment. Experience in diagnosing malfunction in determining remedy where complex relionships exist among optical systems and supporting mechanical and electrical systems. Experience in the use of a variety of measuring and testing equipment. Experience interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schemics and work orders. Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candides' experience should be evalued on the basis of duties performed rher than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compibility criteria/assignments must be followed.
