Job Description

Talkie Communications is the fastest growing Fiber Optic Service Provider on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In addition to our network and services expanding, so is our team! The Fiber Optic Splicing technician position is a crucial part of our daily operations here at Talkie Communications.
Responsibilities include:
  • Reading and interpreting prints and other engineering documentation
  • Experience in performing mid-span/lateral on both ribbon and loose tube sheaths
  • Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills, (proficient with
OTDR, OPM, VFL
bidirectional testing.)
  • Ability to work efficiently, effectively, and independently performing tasks
  • Able and willing to travel with occasional overnight stays in areas where work is being performed
  • Provide input and documentation regarding setup of splice locations, termination points, and general fiber optic construction
  • Install, Splice, Repair, and Test fiber network in a variety of environments including underground, indoor, and aerial.
  • Installation of various enclosures for both OSP and ISP
  • Record and document testing
  • Maintain required paperwork, splice plans, as-Builts, time sheets, etc.
  • Provide emergency response when needed
  • Perform daily duties in a safe manner and be able to lift maximum 70lbs
  • Always maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers
  • Be able to pass and maintain MD DOT medical physical
Schedule:
Monday through Friday - 8am to 5pm on site at various locations On call weekends w/ Flexibility.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in FTTX build design

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
