Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Automation Technician to join our Field Support team. This position reports to the Senior Director-Support, Quality & Compliance and is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance, and repair services for EPEC's Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and related electrical distribution equipment. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, and power distribution systems. Key Responsibilities Commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair RPP, PDU, and related power distribution equipment. Diagnose and resolve issues with electrical and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, VFDs, communication networks, and instrumentation. Perform startup and commissioning activities for new installations. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections, equipment assessments, warranty (OEM) repairs. Support remote customer troubleshooting efforts using phone, email, and remote connection tools. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customer Support to resolve technical issues. Maintain compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements. Complete job close-out reports with detailed notes, descriptions, and photographs. Perform damage and claims investigations, warranty repairs, and system upgrades. Participate in an on-call schedule for emergency response. Required Qualifications Associate degree (two-year degree) in Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related experience. Minimum 5 years of field service, maintenance, controls, electrical maintenance, or industrial electrical experience. Perform accurate, precision wiring with 16-gauge and larger wiring, micro breakers, shunt trips, and fuses. Participate in an on-call schedule for emergency response, with a 24 or 48-hour notice. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook). Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring schematics. Knowledge of power quality monitoring and electrical metering systems. Experience with HMI platforms and operator interfaces.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills involving:
AC/DC Circuits- Control Power Systems
- Relays and Contactors Ability to use electrical test equipment including: Multimeters
- Megger and Hi-Pot Testers
- Network Diagnostic Tools Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as: Ethernet/IP
- Modbus TCP
- Profinet Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.
Pay:
$75,000.00- $95,000.
