In this Customer-facing, remote role with STERIS, you'll travel within North Carolina to inspect and repair surgical instruments in our mobile truck, hospital environments, and repair labs. Entry-level candidates are welcome—we will train you—even if you've never repaired surgical instruments before. What you'll do Perform basic to intermediate repairs using grinding and buffing wheels, soldering tools, and assorted hand/power tools. Assess instruments for function, wear, and damage; complete precise restorations with strong manual dexterity and keen attention to detail. Work primarily from a mobile repair truck with frequent trips into hospitals; expect changing weather and a compact, shared workspace. Support multiple sites across your assigned territory according to service agreements, Customer needs, and staffing plans. Curious about our mobile workshop? Territory Remote position serving Customers in the assigned territory—candidates must be based in North Carolina. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
Examples:
assembly, small engine repair, cell phone/electronics diagnostics and repair, rebuilds, carpentry, circuit board assembly/repair, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, or automotive repair. Willingness to work flexible schedules (early/late) with occasional overnight and out-of-state travel.
Meets DOT requirements:
able to pass a DOT medical/physical exam; follows all DOT regulations; can drive a DOT-regulated vehicle and perform basic box-truck safety checks. Valid driver's license with acceptable record (CDL not required); able to maintain required vaccinations. 21 years of age or older (FMCSA interstate driving requirement). Meets hospital/Customer credentialing standards. Depending on experience, this position may be elevated to Repair Technician II or III.
