Job Description

MWD Shop Technician Measurement While Drilling | Full-time | Shop-based We are hiring an MWD Shop Technician to keep our Measurement While Drilling tools ready for the field. This role is hands-on shop work: assemble, inspect, test, repair, and kit downhole and surface MWD equipment so crews get reliable tools on time. What you'll do Assemble, disassemble, inspect, and service MWD tools, electronics, survey instruments, and field kits Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and component-level repair of failed tools Run functional tests, roll tests, calibration, and high-temperature / vibration checks using lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, ovens, fixtures) Clean, restock, and inventory field kits, subs, and consumables; keep kit contents accurate in the inventory system Document repairs, test results, parts used, and tool history Load/unload shipments, move kits with a forklift (training provided if needed), and help stage equipment for jobs Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with HSE standards Support rush turnarounds and occasional after-hours or on-call coverage when jobs demand it What we're looking for Required High school diploma or GED Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude; comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office / inventory or ERP systems) Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a shop environment Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the U.S. (or specified country) Willingness to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Preferred Oilfield shop, MWD/LWD, directional drilling, or electronics repair experience Technical school certificate or associate degree in electronics, electromechanics, or a related field Forklift experience Physical & work environment Shop and warehouse setting. Work includes standing, bending, kneeling, and handling heavy tool strings. Some overtime during busy times and weekend coverage depending on schedule. $28.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.0 - 46.0 per week
