Duties Help The primary purpose of this position is to perform calibrion, diagnostics repair, and certificion of electronic, mechanical, and radiion Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). Sets up system test sets and various types of test equipment such as frequency meters, standing wave rio meters, radio frequency (RF) power meters, function/ arbitrary waveform generor, distortion analyzers, time frequency work stions, oscillors, voltmeters, electronic counters, oscilloscopes, tenuors, decade resistors and capacitors, signal generors, stroboscope, tachometers, pneumic and hydraulic pressure standards and other physical and electronic tests. Diagnoses equipment, makes repairs, and replaces defective parts/components such as integred circuits, printed circuit boards, electronic condition coils, radiion detector boards/circuits, crystals, transistors, tubes, transformers, condensers, diodes, relays potentiometers, and reled components. Following repair, tests by applying signals in known amplitude and wave shape into oscilloscopes to observe wave ptern. Isoles faults by taking measurements and comparisons in voltage, amperage, ohms, henries, power factor, wts, temperure, humidity, microns, foot-pounds, decibels, sensitivity, noise, stability, Voltage Standard Wave Rio (VSWR), impedance, phase, absolute pressure, time intervals, displacement, flow re, etc., to determine performance of equipment. If signal is distorted, traces it through electronic stages to loce malfunctioning part. Checks sweep re by feeding known signal to an oscilloscope and observing wave ptern to correct shape and size. Operes equipment to complete range checking for proper operion of positioning controls. Adjusts with trimmer potentiometers; and if calibrion is still not possible, adds or removes sufficient resistance to permit balancing of circuit. As needed, contacts the using organizion to obtain informion concerning the nure of the malfunction. Uses equipment schemics to analyze circuits by preparing block diagram showing major components such as amplifiers, filters, oscillors and indicors. Determines purpose in operion characteristics of each major section. Refers to technical manuals and manufactures specificions to obtain informion on operion characteristics of circuit components such as integred circuits, microprocessors, decoders, lching networks, notch filters, logics, controllers, programmable gain amplifiers, digital displays, transistors, tubes, transformers, coils, relays, motors, and similar devices. Disassembles, cleans and inspects parts such as printed circuit boards, resistors, capacitors, integred circuits, relays, chambers, cables, and wiring for evidence or wear or malfunction. Repairs and/or replaces parts as required. Uses special test devices and radioactive samples or other calibred sources. Tests equipment for sensitivity and correct operion. Observes necessary precautions as stipuled in operional repair manuals. Makes radiion calculions/readings various distances from the standard ensuring radiion equipment is opering in specified parameters. Performs contaminion/radiion surveys on radiion equipment to control/elimine radiion leakage/contaminion. Completes necessary Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS), calibrion, radiion reports and other records and forms on work completed. Ensures maximum number of weapons systems are operionally ready. Uses TMDE Integred Maintenance Management Systems (TIMMS) for all supported equipment to track, turn-in, repair, calibre, and return to the end user in a timely fashion to prevent work stoppages. Furnishes technical da to the supervisor for inclusion in reports as well as recommending equipment improvement and solutions for unusual problems reled to testing and the use of precision TMDE. : Experience or training which demonstres a working knowledge of electronic principles involved in the generion and measurement of such elements as voltage, current, impedance, capacitance, frequency, and inductance. Experience in the use of various precision measurement instruments and standards.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have experience or training with basic applicion of opering principles such as the production and utilizion of oscillions over a broad range of frequencies; signal and waveform behavior, distortion, and amplificion; pulse, trigger, and synchronizion techniques; digital/analog processing and da conversion techniques; and a variety of display and indicion methods. Experience in tracing signals and voltage phs, and skilled in the analysis of waveform characteristics such as timing, durion, frequency, and phasing. Origines test set-ups to isole malfunctions and check performance characteristics of special or unique test panels or mockups. Experience in interpreting and applying a variety of technical electronic informion such as schemic symbols, mhemical expressions and formulas, calibrion procedures, and other reference merials. Experience in applying established techniques and methods of repair, testing, alignment, and calibrion of equipment, which serves as test equipment or precision measurement standards. Experience in utilizing electronic circuits to measure electronic or electrical quantities to determine the performance characteristics and accuracy of other instruments and equipment.
