Hourly rate based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skill level About White Mountain Paper Company White Mountain Paper Company launched in 2021 following the acquisition of the mill property by Behrens Investment Group. While the company is newer, the facility itself has deep roots in papermaking dating back to the late 1800s. Located on the Androscoggin River in Gorham, New Hampshire, WMPC manufactures high-quality bath tissue, facial tissue, and towel products using FSC-certified fibers and a sustainable energy mix, centered around a modern 102" crescent former. Our mill is located in the White Mountains, approximately two hours from Portland and three hours from Boston. The area is known for skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, and year-round outdoor recreation. Nearby North Conway is widely recognized as one of the country's top small towns for outdoor adventure. Position Summary White Mountain Paper Company is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support the reliability, repair, installation, and ongoing improvement of electrical and instrumentation systems across the mill. This role is responsible for maintaining production equipment and supporting the facility's electrical infrastructure, control systems, instrumentation, and related components. The technician will work closely with maintenance and operations personnel to troubleshoot problems, complete repairs, perform preventive maintenance, and help reduce downtime. This position also supports upgrades, retrofit work, and modernization projects that improve equipment performance and plant efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in industrial electrical maintenance, strong troubleshooting ability, and a safety-first approach in a manufacturing setting. Paper mill experience is preferred, but comparable industrial experience will also be considered. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation issues throughout the facility Diagnose faults involving motors, drives, control systems, lighting panels, MCCs, and related equipment Perform routine inspection, servicing, and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and electrical systems Install, assemble, and connect electrical equipment in accordance with prints, layout plans, and specifications Perform conduit installation, wire pulling, terminations, electrical box installation, and other wiring tasks Repair or replace failed components such as motors, drives, electrical devices, control components, and associated hardware Maintain, test, and support generators and backup electrical systems Wire and troubleshoot control panels, motor control cabinets, and power distribution equipment Work with 4-20 mA systems and diagnose signal or control issues Adjust, set, and calibrate level devices, pressure instruments, sensors, and related measurement equipment Install and support basic PLC and drive applications Assist with project planning, equipment retrofits, and new equipment installations Maintain pneumatic and electronic valves, actuators, and related controls Perform cabinet maintenance including voltage checks, MCC cleaning, and tightening terminals and lugs Repair small electrical components and assemblies using appropriate tools and bench repair equipment Safely remove or install fuses ranging from low voltage systems up to 22kV using proper PPE, procedures, and tools Align and calibrate equipment to improve reliability and reduce premature wear Perform routine electrical maintenance on powered industrial vehicles as needed Complete lockout/tagout activities on MCCs and other electrical equipment as required Move materials, parts, tools, and equipment through the mill using forklifts, hand trucks, or other approved methods Enter maintenance information, equipment status, and safety observations into digital systems and recordkeeping platforms Maintain accurate written documentation of inspections, repairs, findings, and corrective actions Support housekeeping and organization efforts in accordance with company 6S expectations Work collaboratively with other maintenance personnel and production teams to support uptime, quality, and customer service Participate in training, annual qualifications, and ongoing skill development Assist with broader facility support work, when qualified, involving general industrial maintenance and site improvement tasks Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work practices Contribute ideas for improvement, reliability, modernization, and efficiency Perform other duties as assigned Preferred Background and Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial electrical equipment in manufacturing or a similar environment Strong working knowledge of AC/DC systems, industrial power distribution, and manufacturing equipment Journeyman-level electrical background or comparable trade experience preferred Ability to complete annual training, skill verification, and competency assessments Ability to complete assigned safety and technical qualifications through the company LMS, including electrical safety, confined space, fall protection, and powered industrial vehicle training Strong documentation skills with the ability to clearly record maintenance activity, repairs, inspections, and equipment concerns Ability to read and understand schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, SDS information, safety procedures, and equipment documentation Ability to follow written instructions, work orders, and maintenance procedures accurately Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with supervisors and coworkers Basic math ability, including arithmetic, percentages, ratios, and simple formulas Ability to use common measuring tools and understand units of measure Strong troubleshooting ability and sound electrical reasoning Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Physical Demands Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping Ability to lift, carry, and handle tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 pounds Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Ability to remain on your feet and walk for long periods during a shift Ability to move throughout an industrial site, including climbing stairs and accessing equipment areas Ability to meet internal requirements for safe powered industrial vehicle operation Work Environment This position is performed in an operating paper mill and includes exposure to industrial conditions such as: High noise levels Dust and airborne particles Hot and cold temperatures Slippery or wet walking surfaces Hazardous chemicals Moving equipment and heavy machinery traffic Frequent walking and stair climbing throughout the facility Team members are expected to work safely at all times and comply with all required PPE, training, and operating procedures. Additional Information Candidates selected for this role may be evaluated to determine classification, trade level, and areas of technical strength. While the company seeks candidates who can support the full scope of the role, not every listed qualification must be fully met on day one. Continued development and steady improvement are expected. Pay:
