Job Description

Position Summary Tatra Solutions is seeking a qualified Gunsmith I to support the 548th Division Sustainment Support Battalion's Support Maintenance Company at Fort Drum. The Gunsmith will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, service, and perform minor repairs on domestic and foreign small arms, select crew-served weapons, and related peripheral equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform detailed assembly and disassembly of domestic and foreign small arms. Inspect, test, troubleshoot, service, clean, maintain, and perform minor repairs on small arms and select crew-served weapons. Complete scheduled and unscheduled weapons maintenance. Install authorized weapons repair parts within established maintenance timelines. Perform maintenance in accordance with applicable technical manuals, technical bulletins, Modification Work Orders, Safety of Use Messages, and other Government publications. Verify that completed maintenance meets Army serviceability and Fully Mission Capable 10/20 standards. Use appropriate gunsmithing tools and gauges, including hammers, punches, files, stones, and inspection gauges. Assist with bead blasting and preparation of metal components for refinishing. Support ammunition inventory and residue turn-in activities. Maintain weapons publications, catalogs, tools, and capital equipment. Support tool accountability and calibration-control requirements. Perform weapons cleaning and organizational-level weapons maintenance. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance actions, repairs, and parts used. Follow all shop safety, weapons-handling, quality-control, and Government security procedures. May assist the primary instructor with Armorer's courses for specific small-arms systems. Minimum Qualifications At least two years of experience performing small-arms, weapons, armament, or gunsmithing maintenance. Demonstrated knowledge of small arms and select crew-served weapons. Experience assembling, disassembling, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing domestic or foreign small arms. Knowledge of gunsmithing hand tools, measuring tools, and inspection gauges. Basic knowledge of small-arms shop safety and weapons-handling procedures. Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals and maintenance publications. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English. Must be physically capable of performing assigned work under Fort Drum's varying climatic conditions. Must successfully meet Fort Drum installation-access and criminal-history background-check requirements. Preferred Qualifications Military training or occupational experience in small-arms and artillery repair, armament maintenance, or a closely related field. Familiarity with limited-operation gunsmithing machinery, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders. Experience maintaining crew-served weapons and peripheral equipment. Experience supporting Armorer training or weapons-maintenance instruction. Familiarity with Army maintenance and

standards.
