Job Description
LGV Technician Job Description SCOPE :
Provide professional and technical expertise to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Laser Guided Vehicle (LGV) systems, specifically Electric 80 LGV equipment, within a tissue paper manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable automated material handling operations by supporting electrical, mechanical, and control systems. The technician will improve system uptime, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and continuous improvement initiatives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supports company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety programs, and hygienic standards. Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of Electric 80 LGV systems. Work from instructions, schematics, and work orders; communicate across shifts. Utilize CMMS systems to track work and parts. Perform preventative maintenance on LGVs following SMPs. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control failures. Troubleshoot communication between LGVs, PLCs, and systems. Maintain PLC-controlled systems and LGV interfaces. Monitor performance and analyze daily data trends to drive continuous system improvement. Calibrate navigation systems, safety devices, LGV encoder setpoints. Assist with software updates and system optimization. Install wiring, sensors, and control components. Perform root cause analysis and implement improvements. Collaborate with on-and off-site Sofidel teams and Electric 80.OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE
Maintain a clean and safe work area. Participate in improvement initiatives and meetings Report on abnormal conditions.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Strong electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of LGV/AGV or automation systems preferred. PLC experience (Beckhoff, Sick, Siemens). Strong problem-solving ability. Good communication and teamwork. Safety-focused and results-driven.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Computers, PLC software, diagnostic tools. Electrical testing equipment. Hand and power tools.Education/Experience:
Associate degree preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess basic computer skills.Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Physical Demands:

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season. The employee will be exposed to considerable paper dust and employees will also be exposed to noise levels that will require hearing protection.ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
