Job Description

Slot Machine Bench Technician - Monitor & Display Repair Role Summary Slot Machines Unlimited is hiring a full-time Bench Technician to diagnose and repair monitors and display electronics on slot machine cabinets moving through our shop.
This is a bench role:
pulling monitors, digitizers, and display boards apart, finding the actual failed component, and putting machines back into sellable condition — not guess-and-swap parts replacement. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair monitor and display failures on incoming and refurbished slot cabinets Troubleshoot LCD panels, touchscreens/digitizers, backlights, inverter boards, power supply boards, video interface boards, and connecting cables down to the component level Test, recalibrate, and realign touchscreens, including IR touch frames and USB/capacitive digitizer controllers Read OEM service manuals and use onboard diagnostic LEDs and OSD menus to trace faults Swap and bench-test boards, resolder minor connections, and validate repairs before a machine goes back into inventory Log parts used, failure codes, and repair notes for each unit Flag recurring failure patterns on specific cabinet models so we can stock the right parts Follow proper safety procedures when working inside high-voltage monitor assemblies Required Abilities & Experience Troubleshooting (must-have). Strong hands-on troubleshooting ability is the core of this job — isolating a failure to the actual bad component through logical, step-by-step diagnosis rather than swapping parts until something works. Must be comfortable reading schematics/service manuals and using onboard diagnostic LEDs and OSD menus to trace power-rail and display faults. Electronics background. Experience repairing TVs, computer monitors, arcade or gaming cabinets, or similar consumer/commercial video electronics. Comfortable working safely around high-voltage components inside monitor assemblies (backlight inverters, power-supply capacitors) and doing basic soldering and connector/harness repair. Specific failure modes to diagnose. Based on the issues that actually show up on these cabinets, the tech should be able to run down: Dead, dim, or flickering backlights and failed inverter boards Bad or bulging capacitors on monitor power-supply boards causing no-power, clicking, or intermittent shutdown Video "snow," lines, or no-signal caused by damaged LVDS/ribbon cable connections — common on curved and slant-top panels where the cable flexes more Dark or dim picture caused by OSD brightness settings or Power-Save mode rather than a bad panel Image retention/burn-in from static graphics left on screen Touchscreen and digitizer problems: ghost touches, dead zones, drift or lost calibration, and (on IR touch-frame designs) emitter/receiver misalignment or beams blocked by dust and smoke residue USB touch-controller boards that disconnect, reset, or need driver/firmware reinstalls Cracked glass or digitizer overlays from impact, and moisture damage from spills Willingness to cross-train. Our machine mix changes, so the ability to apply solid electronics fundamentals to whatever monitor lands on the bench — and pick up new cabinet platforms as we add them — matters more than having already touched every model listed below. Physical Requirements & Job Details Ability to lift and move monitor assemblies and cabinet parts (up to ~50 lbs) Comfortable working at a bench for extended periods with hand tools and test equipment Manual dexterity for small connector and component work Nice to have: experience specifically in casino/gaming electronics, familiarity with common parts suppliers (e.g., Ceronix), basic computer skills for touch-controller driver/firmware updates.
