Monday-Friday / daytime hours Kerpec Management is looking for a dependable, well-rounded Apartment Maintenance Technician to handle day-to-day maintenance and repairs across our residential properties in Pittsburgh. We are not looking for a specialized contractor for one particular trade . We are looking for someone who is comfortable handling a wide variety of common apartment and building maintenance issues independently.Responsibilities Typical work may include:
Troubleshooting outlets, switches, breakers, GFCIs, lights, and other basic electrical issues Replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, and other basic electrical components when appropriate Basic plumbing repairs, including toilets, faucets, drains, leaks, and fixtures Drywall and plaster repair Patching, sanding, caulking, and painting Repairing doors, locks, handles, hinges, cabinets, and other hardware Troubleshooting and completing minor appliance repairs Completing general repairs throughout apartments and common areas Preparing vacant apartments for new tenants Handling maintenance work orders in occupied apartments Performing preventative maintenance and identifying problems before they become larger repairs Clearly documenting completed work and any additional repairs that may be needed Recognizing when a repair requires a licensed or specialized contractor and reporting it to management The work varies from day to day. One work order may be an outlet that stopped working, the next may be repairing plaster, replacing a light fixture, fixing a toilet, adjusting a door, touching up paint, or troubleshooting an appliance. What We Are Looking For The right candidate should: Have experience with residential, apartment, property, construction, or general building maintenance Be comfortable troubleshooting problems instead of simply replacing parts Have working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, drywall/plaster, painting, carpentry, and general repairs Be able to work independently and complete jobs correctly Be reliable and able to maintain a consistent daily work schedule Be organized and able to move between multiple work orders and properties Communicate professionally with tenants and management Keep work areas clean and leave apartments in good condition after completing repairs Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation Be physically able to perform normal maintenance work, including using ladders, carrying tools/materials, and working in different areas of residential buildings Apartment maintenance experience is strongly preferred, but we will consider candidates with solid general construction or maintenance experience who have the necessary troubleshooting and repair skills. Important This position is intended for a well-rounded general maintenance technician . We are not expecting one person to perform major licensed electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other specialized trade work. Those projects can be referred to the appropriate contractor when necessary. What we do need is someone capable of independently handling the large majority of normal, everyday apartment maintenance issues. Pay is based on experience and demonstrated ability.
