Job Description

Lead Technician - Residential Repair & Remodeling (1099 Independent Contractor) Philly Handyman Remodeling & Renovations is a licensed home improvement contractor based in the Pennsport neighborhood of South Philadelphia. We started as a handyman company in 2023 and now do a mix of skilled repair work and remodels — mostly in pre-1978 rowhomes with plaster walls, old plumbing and electrical, tight access, and street parking. Most of our jobs are in Philly, but we work anywhere up to within one hour of
Pennsport:
which means Philadelphia, South Jersey, southeastern PA, and north Delaware. We're looking for a lead who can run jobs with remote management from the owner as needed. A typical day You and an assistant technician load out from our shop, drive to the job, and knock out 1-2 jobs a day — a door and trim install in the morning, a drywall and paint repair in the afternoon, or day three of a bathroom remodel. Your task list is in Todoist, the job record is in Housecall Pro, and every job gets before/during/after photos in CompanyCam. You check in with the owner on progress and flag anything off-scope for change orders before it costs money. What you'd be responsible for Running the job from scope to punch list: following the sequence, picking up the materials, quality control, cleanup Directing the assistant technician and teaching as you go Building the materials list from the scope and picking up what's needed Keeping the customer informed and the site protected and clean Photos and notes on every job in CompanyCam; tasks checked off in Todoist Knowing when something needs a licensed plumber, electrician, or engineer and saying so What you bring: 5+ years hands-on in residential remodeling or high-end handyman work, at least 2 running jobs with a helper Solid across trades: drywall and plaster, doors and windows, trim and carpentry, tile, painting, fixture-level plumbing and electrical, small exterior repairs You read a scope, can write a list of the materials, supplies, or tools you'll need, and come in on the quoted hours Clean and respectful in customers' homes; you can explain what you did and why Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, your own hand and power tools
Phone-comfortable:
we run on Housecall Pro, Todoist, Notion, Google emails, and CompanyCam — every job gets photos and notes Able to work off ladders, lift 50+ lb, and work in dust, heat, and cold What you get: $38-$45/hr, 1099, depending on experience — paid weekly on your invoice, no waiting on net-30 Rate review at 90 days based on performance Consistent work — 1-2 jobs a day, year-round; small repair jobs fill the gaps between remodels Nice-to-haves PA Home Improvement Contractor registration (we'll walk you through it if you don't have it — it's $50) Old-house experience: plaster, masonry, out-of-square everything Basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a specialty you're strong in Schedule and location Our jobs run Tuesday through Sunday. If Monday-Friday with weekends off works better for you, we can book around that — you set your availability and we schedule to it. Early starts, driving between jobs in the city, street parking, and physical work are the norm. How to apply Send a short note about your experience. If you want to stand out, tell us about the last few jobs you ran and include photos — not required, but it helps.
