Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking a Flycut Operator for a leading advanced optics and photonics manufacturing client. This candidate will support the production of highly precise laser optics and optical components using specialized flycut machining equipment in a clean manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is a mechanically inclined individual with manufacturing experience who can multitask, maintain strong attention to detail, and thrive in a quality-focused environment. Training is provided, with new hires typically partnered with a trainer for approximately three months before operating independently. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to grow within a highly technical manufacturing environment where attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are valued as much as prior technical experience.
Day-to-Day:
Operate diamond turning flycut machines to manufacture precision optical components Perform cutting, polishing, and finishing operations on laser optics components Run and monitor up to two machines simultaneously while maintaining quality standards Measure and verify part dimensions, surface finish, and optical specifications using metrology equipment Handle sensitive optical components with care to prevent damage Complete production and quality documentation accurately Work closely with trainers and team members during onboarding and skill development Support machine setups and basic troubleshooting activities Perform inspections in a low-light environment when required Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Follow all EHS, PPE, and quality procedures
Must-Haves:
High school diploma or GED Minimum 1-2 years of manufacturing experience Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to multitask and monitor multiple pieces of equipment Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift Strong attention to detail and quality Basic math skills Ability to read and follow work instructions Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Plusses:
Vo-Tech or technical school background Machining experience Precision manufacturing experience Clean room experience Experience with metrology equipment Optical manufacturing experience Experience working with lasers or optical components Experience inspecting surface textures and finishes
