Position Summary The 1st Shift Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading electrical and automated manufacturing equipment. This role requires expert-level knowledge of VFDs, PLCs, CNC machines, motion control systems, and industrial automation. This technician also serves as a leadership presence on shift, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to other maintenance personnel while ensuring safe, efficient operation of plant equipment. Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoot and program PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI interfaces. Repair, configure, and optimize Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and servo systems. Maintain CNC equipment, motion controllers, and automation systems. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks according to schedule. Assist in root‑cause analysis and corrective action for chronic equipment issues. Leadership & Team Support Serve as technical lead for electrical and automation troubleshooting. Mentor maintenance apprentices and technicians; assist in skills development. Provide clear direction during shift start‑ups, changeovers, and downtime events. Support coordination of maintenance activities with production and engineering teams. Promote a strong safety culture through example and positive influence. Continuous Improvement & Projects Participate in equipment upgrades, installations, and automation improvements. Work with engineering to refine controls logic, optimize equipment performance, and implement reliability enhancements. Identify recurring issues and propose long‑term solutions. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Safety & Compliance Follow all

OSHA, NFPA

‑70E, lockout/tagout, and plant safety requirements. Ensure electrical work complies with NEC and internal company standards. Properly document all work performed, including electrical drawings updates when necessary. Qualifications 5+ years industrial maintenance experience with strong electrical background. Hands‑on experience with VFDs, PLC troubleshooting/programming, CNC machinery, servo systems, and motion control. Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or team‑lead experience. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and mechanical drawings. Strong problem‑solving abilities and communication skills. Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure. Familiarity with CMMS systems for work order management. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically active tasks. Ability to climb ladders, work on elevated platforms, and enter confined areas safely. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods during maintenance activities. Work Environment Manufacturing facility with exposure to electrical systems, moving machinery, noise, and industrial materials. Required use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toe footwear, hearing protection, and arc‑flash gear where applicable.
