Job Summary

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a SATCOM Electronics Technician to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.

PURPOSE / SCOPE

The SATCOM Electronics Technician is responsible for setting-up, packing, configuring, operating, and maintaining satellite terminals (fixed and tactical) along with associated assemblies and providing technical assistance and training to users.

Other duties may include, but not be limited to the following:

Serves as a hands-on, working shift for configuration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SATCOM Terminals.

Installs equipment according to manufacturers specifications - Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.

Converses with customer, co-workers or supervisor on equipment configuration and provides instruction on operation of equipment.

Consults with unit co-workers to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.

May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.

Assist co-workers in servicing and repairing SATCOM related equipment and/or items.

Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.

Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.

Leads testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.

Perform general housekeeping duties in support of a safe working environment.

Perform all other position related duties, as assigned, or requested

The SATCOM Electronics Technician will be available for on-call support as needed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

Within the last four years, two years specialized experience directly related to satellite communications facility operations

With the last three years, two years specialized experience in the theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory and of characteristics, functions, diagnosing, isolating and correcting malfunctions and performing organizational level maintenance on communications and electronic equipment

Must be familiar with current global, US, Program and PWS requirements

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and drivers license throughout employment in this role

Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring

Ability to successfully pass the medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

Note:

US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance

Ability to obtain country-specific visas as required by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies

Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds

Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable

May work in a typical office environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
