Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Upfitter is responsible for installation and maintenance of Public Safety Emergency Vehicle Equipment, including lighting, sirens, camera systems, radios, and push bumpers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1) Install equipment and accessories, such as emergency lighting, electronic surveillance equipment, communication equipment, storage systems, K9 systems, prisoner transports and prisoner systems 2) Cut openings and drill holes for fixtures and equipment using electric drills 3) Remove seats, carpeting, and interiors of doors and reinstall interior parts 4) Diagnose or repair problems with electronic equipment, such as emergency lighting, electronic surveillance equipment, communication equipment and storage systems 5) Confer with customers to determine the nature of malfunctions 6) Inspect and test electrical or electronic systems to locate and diagnose malfunctions using visual inspections and testing instruments 7) Replace and clean electrical or electronic components 8) Splice wires and solder connections to fixtures and equipment 9) Record results of diagnostic tests 10) Occasional out of town and/or overnight travel may be required
WORK EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
1) A history of installation of automotive electrical accessories is preferred 2) Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with little supervision 3) Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities 4) Work well with and interact with customers and co-workers in a professional and ethical manner 5) Work with tools and equipment required for assigned tasks 6) Must have a basic set of tools to perform all job functions 7) Direct knowledge/experience with 12-volt systems 8) Experience with soldering, wire routing and relays 9) Basic understanding of electrical theory and low voltage
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1) High School diploma or equivalent 2) Read and communicate in English both verbally and written
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1) Move about, communicate/exchange information, perceive, position self, ascend/descend from ladders, bend, squat, lift and carry 2) Ability to lift 80 lbs. with or without assistance 3) Ability to drive a vehicle 4) Ability to maintain the established work schedule 5) Ability to remain in stationary/standing position for long periods of time
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
1) Valid/current Oklahoma driver's license required
