Job Description Product Engineer Principal Technician The Principal Technician will work as part of the Tech Services & Support team to support operational processes, focusing on the disassembly, reassembly, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of mobile devices and consumer electronics. They'll also be responsible for training and maintenance of fixtures. They will report results of their observations, train technicians, review reports and resolve issues. The ideal candidate will have experience in mobile phone and PC troubleshooting and mobile device operating systems (iOS/Android). This position will support engineers in analyzing the effectiveness of the hardware and equipment they are building.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform disassembly and reassembly of various fixtures and components. Train team members on proper disassembly and reassembly techniques. Review reports and provide feedback and training to technicians. Maintain and update training materials and documentation. Approve and maintain UAT results, test device inventory, and data. Partner with Engineers to identify and develop new-feature test processes. Partner with Engineers and Operations to implement latest updates, features, and systems. Support Operations and Help Desk team in troubleshooting localized systems issues and provide recommendations for swift resolutions. Utilize the ability to recognize problems or data trends that need further investigation and recommend . Document results of root cause analysis investigations and recommend solutions. Make good technical decisions and complete tasks & assignments under direction. Escalate technical issues to engineering staff.
Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of test hardware equipment and testing processes in mobile device or computer industry (Android and iOS platform experience a plus). Proficiency in consumer electronics and mobile device troubleshooting and testing, preferably with a service and repair background. Practical experience with various mobile OEMs and their operating systems. Experience in disassembly and reassembly of electronic components. Ability to train and mentor team members. Testing, test planning, and documentation of test plans and processes. Experience in mobile device and electronic devices content clearing or diagnostics is beneficial.
Education and Experience Guidelines:
2-year technical or associate degree electrical/mechanical technology or 6+ years electrical/electronic experience.
