Temp Fiber Optic Cable Assembly Operator Are you a detail-oriented technician with a steady hand and a passion for precision manufacturing? Join our dynamic production team at a leading fiber optics company, where your skills will help deliver high-performance connectivity solutions that power the world's most advanced technologies. We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Cable Assembly Operator to assemble, terminate, test, and package premium fiber optic cables to exacting engineering and customer specifications. What You'll Do:
Cut, strip, and meticulously clean single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables in preparation for termination. Utilize hand tools and precision equipment (strippers, cutters, cleavers, and cleaning systems) to prepare fibers. Install, epoxy, and crimp a variety of connectors including LC, SC, ST, MPO, and others. Polish fiber end-faces using advanced mechanical and hand-polishing techniques to achieve superior optical performance. Inspect fiber end-faces with high-powered microscopes, automated inspection systems, and interferometers — documenting results with precision. Perform in-process visual inspections to uphold rigorous quality standards. Maintain an immaculate, organized workspace following 5S principles. Accurately complete production documentation, labeling, lot tracking, and electronic records to ensure full traceability. Collaborate closely with Production Leads, Quality, and Shipping teams to meet tight schedules and exceed customer expectations. Strictly adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental health & safety policies.
What You Bring:
Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for handling delicate glass fibers. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Comfort using computers to access instructions and input production data. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to identify color-coded fibers. 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred). High school diploma or GED preferred. U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (required to meet ITAR regulations).
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
You'll work in a clean, ESD-controlled manufacturing environment alongside talented Production, Engineering, and Quality professionals.
Expect:
Frequent standing/walking and extended periods working under magnification (microscopes). Use of required PPE and adherence to safety protocols. A fast-paced setting that rewards focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
