Job Description

MWD Electronics Technician - Junior / Intermediate Total Quality MWD is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Electronics Technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and development of electronic systems used in Measurement While Drilling (MWD) equipment. This is a hands-on position based in our Conroe operation. The successful candidate should have previous exposure to the Measurement While Drilling, directional drilling, or downhole tool industry and be comfortable working with electronic assemblies, test equipment, wiring, sensors, and electro-mechanical equipment. We are looking for someone with solid technical fundamentals who wants to expand their capabilities. We will provide training on our specific MWD products. Key Responsibilities Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair MWD electronic equipment. Perform PCB and electronic assembly inspection and troubleshooting. Use multi-meters, scopes, power supplies, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment. Perform SMT soldering, component replacement, connector repair, wiring, and cable assembly. Troubleshoot power, sensors, and electronic interface problems. Read electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation. Perform functional testing and document test results. Assist with prototype builds, engineering changes, and new product development. Maintain accurate service, repair, configuration, and equipment records. Work with engineering and operations personnel to identify recurring failures and improve product reliability. Maintain an organized electronics workbench. Preferred Qualifications 1-5 years of MWD, directional drilling, downhole electronics, or related oilfield experience preferred. Electronics Technician diploma, technical certification, military electronics training, or equivalent practical experience is an asset. Experience with MWD systems, mud pulse telemetry, EM telemetry, gamma, directional sensors, or downhole instrumentation is highly desirable. Good understanding of DC electronics and basic digital/analog circuits. Ability to solder and perform electronic rework. Comfortable troubleshooting problems rather than simply replacing assemblies. Ability to read schematics and technical drawings. Basic computer skills and ability to learn configuration and diagnostic software. Strong attention to detail and documentation. What We Are Looking For We are specifically interested in a junior or intermediate technician who already understands the MWD environment but wants to grow technically . The ideal candidate does not need to know our equipment. We can teach the equipment. We are looking for someone who already understands that downhole equipment requires attention to detail, reliability, proper testing, and disciplined workmanship.
