Job Description

More than 22,000 of those units are still running today, and the people in our shops keep them running. As a Downstream Mechanic IV in Deer Park, you'll be the recognized Subject Matter Expert on your assigned reciprocating compressor platforms, both Cooper OEM and non-OEM. You'll diagnose the hard problems, restore and overhaul equipment, and train the next generation of mechanics. Engineering will come to you for answers, and contractors will answer to you on quality. If you're a master of your craft and want your expertise to count, this is the role. What you will do Serve as the go-to SME for your assigned Cooper OEM and non-OEM compressor platforms Independently troubleshoot and find the root cause of recurring failures on reciprocating engines, compressors, pumps, and associated components Perform advanced diagnostics, restoration, and overhauls on reciprocating compressors Support upgrade projects that extend equipment life and improve performance and reliability Support the manufacture of new compressor cylinders and precision components Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control over third-party contractors performing major maintenance on individual assignments Work directly with Engineering on repairs, parts conditions, and equipment history Develop and deliver formal on-the-job training, skills assessments, and competency verifications for Mechanic I, II, and III team members Help write and update shop work instructions, SOPs, and repair guidelines Lead by example on safety, and keep documentation accurate and complete, including regulatory inspections, SAP orders, safe job plans/work permits, and timesheets Who you are
Experienced:
8-12 years of progressive mechanical maintenance and repair experience on compressors and pumps A recognized
SME:
You have deep knowledge across Cooper OEM and non-OEM reciprocating compressor platforms
Precise:
You are expert-level with precision measurement tooling A mentor: You have a proven record of developing junior technicians A strong communicator: You can read technical procedures and government regulations, write clear technical reports, and present to managers and site personnel
Education:
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent related work experience Ready for the work: You can work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as shop schedules require You can lift and transport up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs You can walk, stand, stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch for up to 30 minutes You can climb stairs and ladders, including A-frame You can safely work around rotating or moving equipment and wear required PPE You hold a valid driver's license Preferred Don't meet every item below?
